Last month, University of Aberdeen awarded Steve Aitken the 2024 Alum of the year, as part of their Alumni Excellence Awards 2024.
They highlighted Steve's focus on mentorship, volunteering his time to university matters, and setting up The Inform Prize - an annual competition for Computer Science students to show their group projects to industry.
Since 2022, Steve has worked as a Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR). This involves spending one day a week at the university, developing projects that promote innovation and encourage entrepreneurship.
On winning the award, Steve said he was "very proud to be acknowledged as Alum of the Year 2024. having reviewed the nominations and short list, I can honestly say I did not expect to be given this accolade. Thank you so much to everyone who helps with these events, and activities".
Well done Steve!
